5th Place at Transgrancanaria Classic for Catalin

The Transgrancanaria Classic race is 126 km long with c. 6900 m of ascent. Catalin tackled it with a high degree of specific preparation, which paid off in a fantastic 5th place finish in his longest race to date.

After finishing 7th at the Transgrancanaria Advanced 84 km race last year, Catalin returned to the island to conquer the longest distance put on during this event. He prepared thoroughly in advance, following ETT heat training protocols and putting together a detailed hydration and nutrition plan with our team sports dietitian, Rebecca.

He also prepared for the 23:59 start time with sleep specialist Charlotte’s aid, going through a sleep training protocol that allowed him to feel fresh and ready for the midnight run.

The result was an extremely well executed race, where Catalin moved through the field steadily throughout the day. He reached every aid station calm and collected and crossed the finish line in a well deserved 5th place in 13:53:41, ahead of his goal time of 14 hours.

Congratulations, Catalin!
