Team Success at the Grand Trail des Templiers

One of the most iconic ultra running races in France, the Grand Trail des Templiers celebrated its 30th anniversary this year. Hugh, Keith, Catalin and Poppy were there to run the main race and discover the fantastic Cévennes, with great results.

Covering 80 km and 3400 m of ascent, the Grand Trail des Templiers sees runners tackle an early morning start with their head torches on, to then climb up the causses and welcome the sunrise over a sea of clouds. On the menu: ruined Templar buildings, oddly shaped rocks, amazing views, steep climbs, and technical descents. Not to mention an extremely competitive field that is getting faster and more diverse every year.

Hugh secured a hard-fought 10th place followed within minutes by Keith in 12th position and shortly afterwards by Catalin in 26th. In her first international race, Poppy then finished in a fantastic 21st place in the women’s race. They’re all already preparing to return next year…
